This is a very common occurrence and can lead to catastrophic damage to the teeth, jaw- joint and surrounding muscles. TMD requires diagnosing the cause of the pain. Constant grinding or clenching of teeth especially at night can lead to:

Injury to the muscles of mastication

Popping of the disk that provides cushioning in the joint leading to a clicking jaw joint

Pain in the jaw joint/ Constant headaches

progressive arthritis of the jaw joint.

Progressive shortening of the teeth exposing the dentin causing sensitivity
We offer a proper diagnosis by doing a bite analysis and if required fabricate an occlusal splint in the correct bite as a preventive measure. The occlusal splint is also used to treat TMJ problems.
